Karl woke up, groggy and his eyes bleary. Then he remembered. In only about 30 minutes, his future spouse would come and meet him.
"..Shit." He thought as he got his tank top and jeans on. Not the fancy general outfit that he usually wears, adorned with multiple medals, but just a simple top. If he was going to meet another human spouse, he would be in much more formal wear. However, his spouse wasn't human.
She was a Koft.
Specifically a Gwynt.
Her name?
Aevessa Yulissa.
His mother and brother were already awake, his brother watching the windows, and his mother watching with curious eyes.
"..Oh. Hey, Karl." His brother, Max, says, scampering away from the window. "..Quick question. Why'd you marry a Gwynt anyways?"
Karl groans, cheeks flushed in both embarrassment and irritation.
"Because," he says, sitting on the sofa, "we met in a cafe while the Peregrine was in harbor. First time I saw a damn Koft. And I fell in love. Isn't that what people do?" He says in genuine, earnest confusion, for he had autism, and had a very hard time reading what was normal. However, he was a genius at maps. Maps didn't ask him anything. Maps were accurate.
"..Now, now, don't be rude to your brother, Karl." His mother, Tilde, a woman of 40 years who still looked 20, was stirring tea in a pot.
"..Alright, Mütter." He sighs.
He checked his watch.
12:38AM
Only 22 minutes.
And so, he simply sat, and watched an episode of Tatort, checking his watch to see if Aevessa was soming.
